2 Weeks is in. I'm finishing out this week, and my boss wants me to use up vacation next week. So there's that. This Friday will be my last day here in the office.

Do you have the option to continue working and force them to pay out your vacation? Seems like they're trying to save a few bucks.

Throw a bitchin' kegger on your last day in the afternoon. Grill hot dogs and burgers outside and get a mini-keg of something and just party on.

That's sort of annoying, can they force you to take vacation your last week? Some places can't, or they don't allow employees to. I guess it's up to the boss there though. Good luck with the last few days! Was he/she pissed you were leaving?

To be honest, I'm not sure. But I can tell you that my time in the office would not be pleasant if I do that.

Well the way I look at it, I can go ahead and jump straight into my next job after a couple of days. Just gotta figure out Cobra first.

He was pretty pissed. I'm starting to think that the whole "60 days" thing was an attempt to return the power to dynamic to his control. I don't think he really believed I'd do it lol

Don't play chicken with me. I'm not the kind lol

I'd say don't take all your unused vacation. By not taking your vacation you will get a full days pay. Every time I heft a job(twice) I made sure all them mother lovers paid for my vacation. Can be like a free 2 week paycheck.

Exactly my theory. They are trying to save some money by not paying him for his last bit of vacation. Bastards!

Although, as he mentioned, he can now start his new job a week earlier and possibly get a double paycheck.

I put a down payment on a new car (2007 G35S sedan) the last time I left a job and got the vacation payout.

They sell root beer by the keg. Probably the safer bet anyways - no chance of violating alcohol rules.

They play fast and loose with those rules in this office. Part of the reason I don't really fit in here lol

Thanks buddy! And I can get you a great deal on a previously cherished chariot! Seriously though, when you're ready the World Auto program is the best CPO program out there.

See? I'm just a natural lol

Haha. Love that gif. And I am leaving the world of corporate software sales for the pastures of car sales. I've decided to follow my passion, and use the sales skills I've amassed through my time in sales here. I know the hours will suck, but I'll be around cars all day.

Heck even my wife is on board.

As a former Saab salesman, assistant sales manager at a used car store, former wholesaler and former Internet Sales Manager for a Ford/Toyota outfit, I welcome you to the industry... ironically as someone working for a large SaaS-model internet infrastructure company.

Haha, Make sure to impress them! Somehow convince them to make an Mk7 R32.

What kind of position will you have at Lindsay? Sales?

Yeah, it's going to be on the sales team. And I wish they'd bring back a VR6 in the R. I just don't think it's going to happen. The 2.0T has too big of a following and too much flexibility (not that that's a bad thing).

I think a worthy successor would be the TTRS's I5 though. That would be awesome wouldn't it?

Kinja'd!!! jkm7680 > BugEyedBimmer - back in the Saddle Dakota Leather
05/27/2014 at 16:21

Kinja'd!!!1

Haha, That would be awesome. The 2.0t does have a good following, and it has been around for some time. Maybe a 2.4T or something among those lines. More diesels for sure, and a Vr6.

Kinja'd!!! BugEyedBimmer - back in the Saddle Dakota Leather > jkm7680
05/27/2014 at 16:36

Kinja'd!!!1

I would like to see a version of the 2.0T that revs a bit more freely like the VR6 did. Stronger valves/springs, and a 7500 rpm redline. What could go wrong? lol

05/27/2014 at 16:40

Kinja'd!!!1

Yeah, a slightly higher performance version would be nice. Hopefully with a better exhaust note also. My old B7 2.0t had a surprisingly nice note, even when completely stock.

The Golf R has a beautiful note. I really like the R in case you can't tell lol.

The R is really an amazing looking car, It's one of my favorite current Volkswagens. I just with Volkswagen brought their car configuration tool back.

Think you might make the switch to a GTI or something?

05/27/2014 at 16:57

Kinja'd!!!1

They want me to. I'm not sure though. Really depends on how well I end up doing there. I would really like a Beetle GS-R if I'm going to stay with the basic 2.0T selection.

Or if a good MkVI Golf TDI manual comes on the lot. I wouldn't be able to say no to that...

That's a good call to make, It's really up to you what kind of car that you want to drive while there. Who knows? Maybe you could drag a Gti with your Civic SI and see who wins, Haha.

They told me the first order of business was getting me out of the Honda lol. And I already know about that race. It would come down to transmission. Historically the Si has always landed smack dab between the DSG and manual GTIs.

They need to introduce a "Track pack" or something SI.

In the rest of the world, they have the Civic Type-R. I still don't know why in the world they haven't brought that over. Even if they don't want to go through crash testing the different body, they could at least have given us the engine/suspension/interior...
